Thursday, November 5th marked the victory celebration of the Dallas YMCA’s $29.5 million Strong Kids Capital Campaign. The victory celebration was held in conjunction with the ribbon cutting of the last major project of the campaign, the T. Boone Pickens YMCA. On hand for the celebration were Capital Campaign Co-Chairs Garrett Boone and Gail Madden, along with Mayor Tom Leppert and T. Boone Pickens. The YMCA Strong Kids Capital Campaign funds helped build two new YMCAs and significant upgrades to seven addition YMCA facilities. The results of this campaign will help the YMCA reach out to more kids and families helping us to continue to build strong kids, strong families and a strong community.
The T. Boone Pickens YMCA officially has opened changing the face and the name of the Downtown YMCA. Nearly 200 elected officials, community leaders and members were on hand for the ceremonial ribbon cutting by Mr. Pickens. The 10 month renovation of the Downtown facility provides the downtown community with a spectacular redesign of the YMCA providing more opportunities to serve health seekers and the growing downtown population.
