The Boone Family Foundation is now accepting applications for the “Dallas Public Voices Greenhouse,” a prestigious new program to dramatically increase the public impact of our nation’s top underrepresented thought leaders. The Dallas Public Voices Greenhouse will provide a select and diverse cohort of 15-20 selected fellows with extraordinary resources, skills and support over the course of three months, to ensure their ideas shape not only the work in their field, but also the greater public conversations of our age.
The Dallas Public Voices Greenhouse is part of a bold new multi-year, multi-institution initiative launched by The OpEd Project in partnership with leading universities and foundations nationwide. It was piloted at Yale, Princeton and Stanford universities, and has since launched in collaboration with a dozen institutions and foundations, including the Ford Foundation and the McCormick Foundation. Those who completing the Dallas Greenhouse will join a prestigious national network of fellows, allowing for knowledge-sharing and innovation across cohorts, institutions and years.
Fellows from previous cohorts have had stunning results, generating professional and media outcomes with far-reaching implications in their fields and careers. They have published in high-impact venues, including The New York Times, CNN, the influential TED blog, The Huffington Post and The Washington Post among others. They have appeared on CNN, CNBC, NPR Radio and other broadcast outlets; been featured in The New York Times magazine; given TED talks; and had their research animated by TED-Ed. They have briefed Congress, advised the White House, launched new research studies and centers, and sparked national and international debate. The resulting impact of their ideas entering the larger conversation has been expansive.
At Dallas Public Voices Greenhouse, up to twenty fellows will be selected for this innovative program. They will participate in a total of three day-long (or 1.5-day) workshop convenings, which take place over the course of three months. The unique curriculum combines game-based learning with the latest research on influence, including: how ideas spread, when and why minds change, how credibility is built, and how impact is created. In addition, Fellows will join monthly calls with high-level media insiders (NYT, TED, CNN, Wikipedia, etc), will receive weekly customized email support and news alerts, and will be assigned to work with top journalist mentors for dedicated one-on-one coaching throughout the year. Upon completion of the fellowship, they will have access to The OpEd Project’s national network of high-level journalist “mentor-editors” for continuing support.
This program will engage participants in intense, results-oriented thinking and activities around their own knowledge and impact. It will provide the inside information, high-level support and media connections to become influential on a large scale.
